Located in historic Old Town is the recently renovated Grant Street which offers guests everything from boutique shopping and upscale clothing stores to places to rummage through home goods and one-of-a-kind finds. If department stores are more your style, check out Vintage Oaks Mall where you can find chains that include DSW and Eddie Bauer to Ann Taylor Loft and Gymboree for the youngsters. Novato has vintage merchants, as well as jewelry and accessory shops, so when it comes to searching for unique places to peruse, this town has you covered.

Novato has a vibrant dining scene that encompasses a variety of restaurants that make the very best of the natural bounty this area has to offer. From Ayawaska Hilltop’s incredible sweeping views and authentic Peruvian cuisine to Grazie Restaurant’s welcoming ambiance and traditional Italian family recipes, Novato has the perfect place to dine for any occasion. 

 

For those interested in artisanal goodies, this area has a wide selection of cheese shops including the iconic Cowgirl Creamery and Marin French Cheese Company. Novato also offers farmer’s markets throughout the year that showcases local produce, dairy, fruit, nuts and more. Culinary adventures abound thanks to a wide selection of excursions offered by Marin Food & Farm Tours. From cheese trails and oyster lover tours to farm visits and more, West Marin offers a ton of fun for the foodie.

For lovers of wine, Novato is in close proximity to Sonoma County and its countless wineries and vineyards, over 425 to be exact. Popular wineries within the town include the award-winning Trek Winery, Novato’s new family-owned tasting room; Mantra Wines, which is also family owned and run; the historical Pacheco Ranch Winery and so many more. Each winery has its own charm, whether outdoor patio seating, fire pits, live music, or entertainment depending on the day. And if you’re looking to make a short drive or day trip, Sonoma is home to 18 sprawling wine regions and lush vineyards waiting to be explored. 

 

If beer is more your thing, Novato is home to a wide selection of craft breweries that offer a whole lot more than the grocery store. From seasonal ale to local brews, beer enthusiasts will be pleased. Within walking distance to the property is Moylan’s Brewing Co., the town’s only brewpub. Beer Craft is another popular destination that offers both beers on tap and bottles. Nearby to that is Finnegan’s on Grant Ave., which in addition to beer also features a selection of traditional Irish pub fare. There’s, even more, to choose from including Indian Valley Brewing and Bicycle Brustop, a locally owned spot that’s dedicated to Marin’s cycling community.

The great thing about Novato is its location. Just 25 miles north of San Francisco, it’s in close proximity to some of the best dining, tourist spots, and city life in the nation. A short 25-minute ride and you find yourself in wine country. Sonoma has sprawling vineyards and wineries that give you access to some of the best wines in the world. With a 30-minute drive, you’ll find yourself in the East Bay with access to major cities that include the diversity of Oakland and Berkeley.

Novato is Northern California beauty at its finest. From forested woodlands to coastal trails, this area of Western Marin has everything any lover of the outdoors could ask for. Depending on the season, you can expect to come across a variety of wildlife and birds; wildflowers; rolling grasslands; streams, and more. Whether on foot, bike or horseback, there are countless hiking areas waiting to be experienced. Popular destinations include the three-mile loop, Rush Creek Trail; The Bay Trail which is a lovely manicured 2.7-mile trail with gorgeous views of Novato's Mt. Burdell to the north and Mt. Diablo to the east; and the Indian Valley Fire Road that takes guests through coastal woodlands.
